The project<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Design and construction of a new biobank laboratory for the Milan Cancer Institute, intended for the collection, processing, storage and management of biological samples to support cancer research.<\/p>\n

The project involves the creation of a highly specialised facility that meets the highest standards of quality, safety and traceability, capable of ensuring the integrity of samples and the reliability of the associated data.<\/p>\n

The customer<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Milan Cancer Institute is a centre of national and international excellence in the research, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.<\/p>\n

The Institute\u2019s work combines clinical care with scientific research, with the aim of developing innovative therapies and continuously improving treatment standards. In this context, the Biobank plays a strategic role in advancing translational medicine.<\/p>\n

Before the project: the client\u2019s requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Institute has expressed the need to establish a modern biobank, designed to ensure:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • proper management of the flow of biological samples on receipt, during processing and storage;<\/li>\n
  • strict monitoring of environmental conditions and storage temperatures;<\/li>\n
  • full traceability of samples and associated data;<\/li>\n
  • compliance with current regulations and national and international quality standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The complexity of the project requires careful integration of the functional layout, technical installations, monitoring systems and operational protocols within a functioning hospital environment.<\/p>\n

    Our approach: the solution<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Our work encompasses both the design phase and the construction of the spaces, using an integrated approach that takes processes, people and technology into account from the very outset.<\/p>\n

    The main activities include:<\/p>\n

    • Analysis of operational workflows and definition of the functional layout of the Biobank<\/li>\n
    • Design of facilities for the reception, processing, preparation and storage of samples<\/li>\n
    • Design and integration of technical systems (electrical, HVAC, backup and continuity systems) to support freezers and cryogenic systems<\/li>\n
    • Design of monitoring and alarm systems for the continuous monitoring of environmental conditions<\/li>\n
    • Coordination of implementation activities in accordance with the Institute\u2019s operational requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Particular attention is paid to the separation of routes, operator safety and the redundancy of critical systems \u2013 all of which are essential for ensuring service continuity and safeguarding biodiversity.<\/p>\n
